Reduces stomach acidity and relieves heartburn symptoms
It is used in the following cases:
- Duodenal ulcer (an ulcer that forms at the beginning of the small intestine)
- Treating Helicobacter pylori (bacteria that can live in your intestines and causing ulcers) to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers
- Benign stomach ulcer (a non-cancerous ulcer that forms in your stomach and produces excessive stomach acid)
- NSAID-associated ulcers (ulcers that form in your intestines due to overuse of NSAIDs or NSAIDs)
- Esophageal reflux (acid reflux also known as heartburn): A backflow of acid from the stomach into the esophagus (food pipe) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause symptoms such as pain in the chest that radiates to the throat and a sour taste in the mouth
- Erosive esophagitis (acid irritation that damages the esophagus): Inflammation that may damage the tissue of your esophagus, the muscular tube that carries food from your mouth to your stomach. Esophagitis can cause pain, difficulty swallowing, and chest pain.
- Pathological hypersecretion (digestive tract problems that lead to increased acid secretion)
